Please Take a moment to go the the brand-X maker's site, see
if you find MEASURED PERFORMANCE DATA!
Ask them: to explain the LOW Radiation Efficiency
numbers they got on their antennas in comparison to the Hi-Q antennas.

Ask them: have they designed their screwdriver antenna or is it really
a Don Johnson knock off?

Ask them: have they designed antennas for the US and FOREIGN SUBMARINES, Navy seals, USMC, USAF, and US Army?

WE ARE DOING IT!

Ask them to explain their claims of being the best!?

Words are CHEAP and usually it is worth as much as the paper it is written on!

NOW DECIDE what antenna you want to buy.

Shoot out Report  2008

Seventh Annual 3905 Century Club
Mobile Antenna Shoot Out
The Seventh Annual 3905 Century Club Mobile Antenna Shootout was conducted on August 2, 2008 in Hanover, PA. We had 15 mobile setups entered into competition, and all system testing were fairly conventional.

We changed our test frequency this year from 7.23 MHz to 3.95 MHz since the lower frequency required more efficient antennas for optimum results.

Our test setup utilized the same components as used in past shoot outs except for an improved receiving loop and tuning circuit. In order to insure equal power for each antenna, one transmitter set for approximately 8 watts was carried from vehicle to vehicle.

The test results were...

Callsign Antenna Vehicle Mount Recorded
Voltage (mV)
1-AA1NZ Hi-Q F/S Crossover Center roof 118.8
2-NJ9T Predator Ford SUV Rear Bumper 115.2
3-K0WJ Predator Full Size Pickup Center Rear Bumper 104.4

Anyway you look at the Hi-Q-HF Mobile Antenna Series: IT IS the best performing SHORT Remotely Tunable Antenna out there!

The NEW IMPROVED Hi-Q-Antennas™ Series HF Mobile antennas are the latest, 6th generation design by Charlie Gyenes W6HIQ / VE7BOC / VA7HIQ / HA5CMG. These Hi-Q-Antennas™ products are covered by one or more of the following patents: US 6,275.195 B1, US 6,496.154 B2.

Design philosophy: Center loaded, remotely tunable in the HF band, using high-quality German Planetary Gear head, 12/24 VDC motors. (Not a cheap screwdriver types like brand X makers -- for a more in-depth comparison between the Hi-Q-Antennas design and screwdriver-type designs,

The recently released for HAM use the Hi-Q-6/80 RT MC-3-H and the Hi-Q-6/160 RT MC-3-H Ruggedized antennas where developed for the USMC On the MOVE vehicular installations.

Those antennas are now serving our militaries HF communication needs.

No moving parts outside, No length changes. The contactor (RF coupler) travels within the sealed coil
housing, kept out of the harsh environment. Silver plated Beryllium copper finger stock is in contact with two
turns of the coil, 720 degrees, at all times. The RF De-Coupler contacts the silver or copper plated tubing that
is activated by a stainless steel all-thread to provide the linear actuations.|

Take a moment to see the Manufacturing Facility.

Why this antenna is BETTER than ANY other so-called screwdriver types? Hi-Q-Antennas™ RADIATE not DISSIPATE! For a more in-depth comparison between the Hi-Q-Antennas design and screwdriver-type designs, click here

Note:  To be able to efficiently utilize the 6 meter band on any Hi-Q Antenna, one MUST utilize an antenna analyzer, find the 5/8, 3/4 or even the MULTIPLE wavelength resonant point. This is due to the fact that the total antenna height exceeds 1/4 wavelength. Some hams have found it advantageous to dedicate a small 6-meter antenna, in addition to their Hi-Q Antenna. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Every criteria pertaining to a center-loaded antenna (23 of them) is seriously considered and applied. Most importantly:

What counts in a CENTER LOADED HF mobile antenna is the LOADING COIL and it’s parameters.

That is why the Hi-Q-5/3-30 MC-3 HF On the Move antenna is in COMBAT service in Iraq!

Ask the brand-X makers to publish their coil “Q”!

  • Coil diameter and wire spacing for high "Q"
  • Coil wire diameter for low resistance and minimum # of turns
  • Coil housing: Lexan, (Polycarbonate) tough UV protected
  • Coil wire embedded into the Lexan housing for shape and rigidity
  • Coil Cap and Base is precision CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and nickel plated for conductivity. GOLD and STAINLESS STEEL are available as options -- contact me for pricing.
  • The entire coil housing is SEALED with neoprene "O" ring.
  • No moving parts outside, no height changes while tuned.
  • Computer modeled for optimum Radiation Efficiency
  • Base length below coil is: 3' for optimum "center loading"
  • Maximum whip length recommended (to reach 13'6") for best performance
  • 6061-T6 aircraft quality aluminum used for base tubing's
  • Silver plated brass tubing for the RF De-Coupler
  • Silver or gold plated Beryllium copper finger stock for conductivity and flexibility
  • All materials used are Mil-Spec, precision machined and hand fitted individually.
  • All stainless steel hardware.
  • Stainless steel lower mast, or black anodized on the MC-3-H antennas
  • Mounts with a single 3/8-24 Stainless Steel bolt or ½-20 bolt on the MC-3-H.
  • Matched to 52 ohms with an MFJ-909 antenna matcher.

Compare before you buy!

See if ANY other tunable antenna comes close.

We have designed and delivered submarine antennas to the US NAVY and other foreign vessels.

Special HF antennas for the US ARMY, Marines, Air Force and Homeland Security. In addition, many foreign military.

Who DOES the brand –X makes selling to?

That is right ONLY to you: HAMS and HAMS are more critical then some of the government buyers, YOU know better!

Why would you spend good money a screwdriver CONTRAPTION when you can get a REAL HF antenna from Hi-Q, SPECIFICALLY developed for you demanding needs?

NOW FOR LESS MONEY!

Yes, when you compare QUALITY and PERFORMANCE it is WORTH more, therefore it COST LESS!

So it is time to TRASH those screwdriver types and UPGRADE to a REAL HF Hi-Q Mobile antenna.
